Need a break? The NYS Caregiving & Respite Coalition (NYSCRC) may be able to help. Respite is planned or emergency care provided to a child or adult with special needs to provide temporary relief to family caregivers who are caring for that child or adult. The presentation includes an introduction and overview of services provided by the NYS Kinship Navigator from Rae Glaser, Director of the Kinship Navigator. Find out about respite vouchers that provide up to $600 to use toward respite care. Kinship Caregivers caring for a child under 18, and caregivers of adults and children with a long-term chronic condition (LTCC) may apply. Once approved, caregivers have the power to hire and train their own respite providers, which could be an agency, individual contractor, or even a family member or friend. The New York State Caregiving & Respite Coalition, NYSCRC, is a partnership of dedicated organizations and individuals committed to supporting millions of New York State's family caregivers. Through training and education, they focus on increasing caregivers' access to respite resources.
