“Without that cancer, I never would have found the unknown – and I never would have lived my whole life.” In 2023, Claire received a rare diagnosis of bile duct cancer – a terminal illness that doesn’t present symptoms until the liver starts failing. Given a life expectancy of just 12 months, Claire proceeded with chemotherapy – and then a friend gave her Dr Joe’s book, You Are the Placebo. She immediately started reading and applying the teachings. When she learned her cancer had spread to her bones and lungs, she persisted with her meditations.
