Abstract: Modern day production quality compilers are enormously complex pieces of software that require a lot of background knowledge to tinker with. This can make it daunting for newcomers to break into the field of compiler design. Through a series of talks and 1:1 sessions, we wish to make this field more approachable to newcomers and amateurs alike. This talk is centered around a few important questions such as: Why are compilers important? Where are they used? What do compiler engineers actually do? How does a compiler break down code into executable instructions? And how to see the stages of compilation in practice? We lay emphasis that this talk is not for experienced engineers who already know a lot about compilers. It is for beginners and newcomers only. Slides: https://github.com/shraiysh/llvm-sess...
