June is #NationalIndigenousHistoryMonth, a time for reflection and renewed commitment to reconciliation. It’s been nine months since the Canadian Medical Association delivered its apology to Indigenous Peoples, acknowledging past and ongoing harms in the health system and pledging a better path forward. Our commitment to doing better is reflected in the actions we’re taking, including working with Indigenous partners to advocate for access to clean water, recognizing Indigenous Knowledge in climate solutions, investing in cultural safety initiatives and supporting Indigenous storytelling. Reconciliation is a continuous journey, and we acknowledge there is still significant work ahead. This month as we reflect on the rich history, resilience and achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, we must work together to take the next steps toward meaningful #reconciliation.
