It’s only after the music stops that Emilly’s tics become apparent. Sniffing, coughing and touching her nose, Emilly has Tourette’s syndrome. The 21-year-old, from Wickford, Essex, has suffered from Tourette’s syndrome since she was a little girl. Emilly was diagnosed with Tourette’s when she was just four-years-old and, as a young teenager, her tics were so extreme she suffered fits and was even hospitalised. Bullied because of her tics, Emilly was a shy and unconfident child but singing and performing gave her an outlet to express herself.
