A shipping special, you don't see ships like this every day at Felixstowe. Zhen Hua 24 is a converted tanker made into a heavy lift vessel able to carry huge cranes around the world. The Zhen Hua 24 sailed from Shanghai with 4 robot RTG's for Felixstowe and 4 RTG's and 2 ship to shore gantries for Istanbul. She stopped at Las Palmas for a refuel and then steadily made her way to the Sunk Pilot Station to board a pilot for the inward journey to the port. The pilot boards at about 10:40am. With such delicate cargo onboard, the pilot and captain agreed to request all 4 Svitzer tugs to assist with berthing. Travelling at an average of 4.5-6 knots the whole way in to the harbour. Finally she enters the harbour about 3 hours later at 13:30. All tugs escort her into the harbour and push her carefully onto Trinity 2 where she will discharge the 4 robot RTG's then depart for her next port of Kumport, Istanbul in about 7 days time. Unfortunately she dumped the cranes and ran on Sunday afternoon.
