The DIFFERENCE IN A GOLFER & SOMEONE WHO JUST PLAYS GOLF IS HOW MUCH YOU WORK ON YOUR SHORT GAME. I never go to the range to practice without a practice plan. I don't practice my weak areas as much as I strengthen my strong areas because I don't play to my weakness I play to my strengths. Example: Around the green weekend golfers have a tendency to get quick, try and lift, won't commit to chips as they are timid and decelerate the club through the ball instead of accelerating it. Least that was what I did for years. I could always 'rolls the ball' as I putted a lot. But I put a lot of undo pressure on my putting because I was not a very good chipper. Then someone coming along with totally unwanted advice told me --- Dalton is you want to become a better putter then become a better chipper and take the pressure off your putting. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Yes, Master. May I now try and grasp the pebble from your hand. So I did not practice easy shots. I practiced un even lies---one foot above the other of slopes--chipping over rough area to a short landing area just trying to get a feel for and confidence that my next shot I'm going to be putting from somewhere on the green. So my goal was small but the target was big, the whole green. As I have said a half a million times. The hardest element in golf is having the ability to stand there and do the same damn thing over and over and over and over and over again. And I'm a go for broke golfer. I don't care what the odds are I'm going for the pen. That's just what I do. That's just how I like to play. Leave nothing on the course. Don't ever look back and second guess your self. When you play go for broke some time you just have to take a double bogie and move on. And I was willing to do that because if I missed the green I knew I could get up and down from any place around the green simply because I practice harder shots than I usually have. Once I start chipping at a hole regardless of the difficulty. I do not stop chipping till I make one. I always leave the practice area with the clear vision of the last shot I hit went in. You have enough day playing were the last shot of the day makes or breaks either your round our your bet. Confidence comes from making shots, making putts, hitting the green. Striping your last drive dead in the center. So I put myself under more pressure practicing than I experience playing. I just REASON TO RESULT.
