Turning your hand lettering, or cursive, into hand embroidery is easier than you think! In this tutorial video, I’ll demonstrate with the word, “hello.” My top three tips for doing this are: 1. Choose a stitch that follows a curve well. There are so many options for you to choose from, including back, stem, outline, chain, and split back stitches (I’m using split back stitch here). 2. Adjust the length of your stitches depending on how tight your curves are - it’s easier to follow a tighter curve with shorter stitches. 3. Stitch like you write - if, when you’re writing, you overlap a line, that means you’ll do the same thing while you’re stitching. This is the best way to ensure your final product looks like actual writing. For a more detailed explanation in writing, check out my blog post on this topic: https://www.hopebroidery.com/post/how... SUPPLIES I’m stitching on two layers of linen using all six strands of cotton embroidery floss; this is the Sonata Seat Stand from Hawthorn Handmade; and I’m writing on my fabric with a blue water-erasable fabric pen.
