Cops Overrule Trucker Hours of Service

In this video, a 35+ year experienced trucker describes an incident where he was caught in a bad snow storm in Kapuskasing, Ontario. The Flying J truck stop in Kap was full, so truckers were finding refuge on the paved wide shoulder of the road, as the highways were closed.... not the best place to park, but there were no other choices. The OPP summoned Dave and the other truckers parked on the shoulder, to move their trucks...... Dave was out of hours, tired and the roads were dangerous, yet the police didn't care. It was either move, or get towed and go to jail for refusal to obey a law enforcement officer. So here we have no safe parking for tractor trailers, insufficient facilities for safe parking for truckers, and the provincial police forcing truckers back out onto the road, when the Hours of Service rules say no AND to boot, the driver informed the OPP officer he was tired, in poor road and visibility conditions. This is a huge problem for truckers in North America. For an industry and government that preaches safety, it's just a big hoax and a smoke screen, to fool the public into thinking that they are protecting them.....when indeed they are not.... this scenario is but ONE small example, of the dirty deeds that go on in the trucking industry, and the disregard and disrespect for the professional driver and their safety and also the safety and well being of the public. Please like and share this video around as much as you are able to spread the word, that something needs to be done about parking for big rigs. Hold your government responsible..... expect some answers to these issues. Why have rules if another authority can override them, to the point of endangering lives?
