ZYGOTE AT HOME - Episode 3 - Cyanotype with Bob Herbst

Each week "Zygote At Home" features demos from our Instructors, Member Artists, and Staff, as well as an easy printmaking project to try at home! This week Zygote Press Instructor Artist Bob Herbst demonstrates cyanotypes, and Brittany M. Hudak, our Programming Administrator, will show how you can make your own sunprints at home. Materials Needed for Sunprint: Sunprint kit (can be purchased online) Plants, toys, lace, other objects to place on paper Parts A and B for Cyanotype: They are the standard chemicals in any cyanotype kit and are considered safe for children to use, under supervision of course. One of the chemicals is actually used as a food additive and the other is a common photo chemical that has been in use for hundreds of years. You can buy pre-mixed cyanotype kits from a number of sources as well as pre-coated fabric. If you really get into it, the chemicals are readily available from photo suppliers online, are inexpensive and will mix up a very large quantity of both A & B.
