Real japa happens when the mind and the mantra come together. First, place the mind into the mantra, and then let the mantra fill the mind. When this happens, the mind becomes absorbed — this is the symptom of genuine japa. In simple words: 🧘♀️ Practice immersing yourself in the Holy Name with gentle attention. 🌊 The River Analogy Chanting is like stepping into a gently flowing river. You enter the river The river naturally carries you forward You don’t struggle — you allow the flow 🎶 The Mahāmantra is that river. Your job is only to step in and stay attentive. 🪷 Exercise 1 – Step by Step Step 1: Sit Properly Sit comfortably and attentively, as learned in the previous steps. Step 2: Begin Chanting Slowly Start chanting the Mahāmantra, focusing carefully on the first word: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare 🎧 Keep your attention especially on the first “Hare”. Step 3: Add Focus Gradually First focus on Hare Then Hare + Krishna Then Hare + Krishna + Hare Then add each name one by one 📌 Important: You don’t drop the earlier names. Each new name is added, not replaced. Your focus becomes deeper and fuller. 🌊 Entering the River of the Holy Name Now imagine the Mahāmantra as a flowing river: You are stepping into it You hear all the names You allow the mantra to carry you ✨ This is immersion ✨ This is absorption ✨ This becomes natural and effortless 💡 Key Insight When you let the mantra move you — 🎶 concentration becomes easier 🎶 chanting becomes joyful 🎶 the heart becomes engaged
