Wolfenstein 3D is a classic game that many people instantly recognize. What a lot of people don't know is that mods for Wolfenstein continue to be made to this very day, and a lot of them are of professional quality. Some are better than the original. Castle Totenkopf SDL Edition is on that list. Based off the Wolf3D Source Port, Wolf4SDL, Castle Totenkopf SDL Edition by Wolf-Skevos Jones is actually a remake of his first mod, Castle Totenkopf. Using the new engine of the Source Port, he introduces dozens of new game mechanics, upgrading the carnage and pushing the limits of Wolfenstein, all while keeping the feel. Features include: All-new custom graphics, sound, and Orchestra-quality music. Bullets now leave tracers and ricochet off walls, enemies talk to each other while searching for you (their lines spoken by a native German), and the music makes you feel like you're in a war movie. 21 incredible levels, including 3 Secret levels with one-of-a-kind weapons and power-ups waiting for any who find them. Brand-new game mechanics, which include Dual-wielding, Controllable MG42s, Armor, Scoped Bolt-Action Rifles, and one-way doors. Enemies can use all of the above as well, so watch for traps, and don't get sniped! 7 new weapons straight from World War II, including the Kar98k, Flamethrower, Panzerfaust, and Sturmgewehr Assault Rifle. Enemies shot with the Panzerfaust and at close range with the Chaingun explode into giblets on death! Classic enemies return with more brains, new weapons, a new look, and new friends to join them. Enemies follow you intelligently, and keep shooting if you don't get to cover. Stand your ground against Chaingun-wielding bosses at your own peril. Several Easter Eggs for fans of Wolf-Skevos Jones' other mods, including a remastered music track from Coming of the Storm, and more... I'm not going to spoil all the fun. This game is literally impossible to play with only a pistol the whole way through, as the enemies have all been rebalanced. Standard guards with submachine guns are common, and guards with pistols can and will fire as quickly as you can. Several of the bosses have such heavy armor that they are immune to pistol and SMG bullets, including the very first one!
