🌸 Good Morning, Garden Gurus! It’s a blooming #FloraFriday and we’re rolling out the green carpet for one of our showstoppers: the Canna Lily—though spoiler alert—they’re not actually lilies! 😉 These tropical beauties are more closely related to bananas and gingers, and our garden is home to nearly two dozen dazzling varieties. From fiery reds and sunny yellows to soft pinks and elegant whites, Cannas bring a kaleidoscope of color to our landscape. 🌿 Native to Florida and the Neotropics, Cannas thrive in wetlands and love to keep their roots moist. That’s why you’ll find ours lounging by the koi pond or chilling in submerged containers. They bloom year-round, but truly shine in the warmer months. 🐝 In the wild, Cannas attract hummingbirds, native bees, and fluttering sulfur butterflies. However, many of our hybrids are nectar-free, making them a rare treat for honeybees. ✨ Garden Tip: To keep your Cannas happy and healthy, trim them back once a year to prevent Canna rust (which can yellow the leaves). And keep an eye out for the Brazilian Skipper caterpillar—adorable, but a bit of a leaf muncher! 🌱 As our Canna collection continues to grow, we’re excited to announce: Cannas will soon be available in our plant shop! Stay tuned and get ready to bring a splash of tropical flair to your own garden paradise.
