This adaptation, created for phones using the i-mode internet service via the i-appli platform, was a real treat for fans of the classics. It was available as part of the extensive catalog of mobile games offered on the Konami Net DX storefront. Developed on the DoJa platform, the mobile version of Super Contra offers players familiar gameplay that is almost entirely faithful to the original on the NES. Here you will encounter the same levels, weapons and enemies, but with an updated engine running on the J2ME platform. The graphics, however, have undergone significant changes: the game uses the tiles and sprites from the arcade version, supplemented with bright color enhancements that bring new life to the visuals. Even the opening sequence from the arcade original has been lovingly recreated. Players have access to three difficulty levels (this video shows a playthrough on the easy difficulty level, but other difficulty levels will be released later), allowing everyone to find a challenge that suits them. However, like many mobile games of the time, Super Contra is a single-player only experience. It’s important to note that the quality of the content you get depends on your phone’s hardware: some devices may have limitations such as no sound or music, simplified graphics, or altered level structures.
