The most anticipated event in the somewhat empty 2020 gala calendar was the Mid Hants Railway 'Autumn Steam Gala' , held over the 16-18th of October. This years event would have a 'The Pines Express' theme with one very popular mainline visiting locomotive running alongside 4 home fleet locos, one of which having only arrived in August. To comply with certain guidelines, the rly had to limit the amount of people attending each day, as well as only allowing people to travel in a selected seat on one rake of coaches, but having freedom to alight at any station. The gala would feature an intensive timetable with locos changing over at Ropley on northbound trains, as well as a freight train running between Ropley and Alresford, and shunting demonstrations in the yard with Hunslet 3781 (Thomas) Locomotives in use.....
