Just 17 km south of Canmore down the Spray lakes road. This has been on my list for quite some time. It just has never worked out until today. That being said, I shouldn't have likely come today, having just finished 11 nite shifts. My body wasn't ready for it. However, I got it done and really enjoyed the views. This is a VERY STEEP mountain with lots of scree on slab that makes certain areas quite slippery. 1270 meters elevation gain as you head up 3.2 kms to the summit. Allow yourself 4.8-8 hours for this one. There is a very large downclimb. It is unavoidable and likely 10 meters or so to get down. A fall here would likely have quite serious consequences. Make sure you are ready to tackle this otherwise head back down. Disclaimer - Always scramble within your own abilities. Thoroughly assess the situation and research the route. Just because I may have done this route at this time doesn't mean you can or should. GPS and/or a topo map are a valuable tool to help. Leave a route description behind with exact location should you not arrive home at a predetermined time. Have a way to contact rescue as well if you are in an area of no cell service(SPOT, Garmin, etc.). Also, if hiking in winter make sure you have the necessary skill and knowledge regarding unstable conditions and perform a proper risk assessment prior to engaging in this activity.
