This #Brexit video details the import controls for live animals and products of animal origin from the UK into the EU, required from January 1, 2021. Two of our Dublin Port-based veterinary inspectors, John Higgins and Noreen Galvin, co-presented this webinar on September 9, 2020. John gave an overview of import controls and conditions, covering topics such as preparing for imports, veterinary certificates, composite products, the submission of documents and the land bridge. Noreen described the practicalities of #import controls on products of animal origin entering the EU from the UK, as well as the official checks that will take place. She covered areas such as preparing for presentation at the Border Control Post, documentary, ID and physical checks. Noreen also explained decisions on consignments, including rejections and the charges that importers will be liable for. Both presenters covered the Traces NT system, the EU's online platform that facilitates the exchange of documents, data and relevant information between trading parties and competent authorities. Registration both with the Department's CCS system and with #Traces NT is required in order to import live animals and animal products into the EU.
