Local Group of Galaxies, A 20 Minute Tour

This video shows sketches, maps, and photos of the Local Group of Galaxies. The Andromeda, Milky Way, and Triangulum galaxies are highlighted. The video has an error at the 6 min 38 sec point. The "double nucleus" is not due to two black holes. Andromeda just has one supermassive black hole in the nucleus. The concentration of light off center is thought to be due to stars orbiting the central black hole. The companion galaxies for Andromeda are discussed. The companion galaxies of the Milky Way, the Large Magellanic and Small Magellanic Clouds, are discussed. Approximate masses (from Google searches) are given.
