The NEMA 17 is a widely used hybrid stepper motor featuring a 1.7 × 1.7-inch faceplate, commonly found in 3D printers, CNC machines, robotics, and automation systems. With a standard 1.8° step angle (200 steps per revolution), it is known for precise positioning, smooth motion, and reliable performance. Compact “pancake” variants (23 mm body height) are ideal for weight-sensitive applications such as 3D printer extruders. In this tutorial, we design a complete NEMA 17 Stepper Motor Assembly using Autodesk Inventor 2024, following a professional bottom-up assembly workflow used in real-world mechanical design projects. This video provides a detailed, step-by-step guide to modelling individual components and assembling them into a fully functional mechanical system using Inventor’s powerful assembly tools. 👨💻 Who Is This Tutorial For? ✔ Mechanical Engineering Students ✔ CAD Beginners & Learners ✔ Design & Manufacturing Professionals ✔ Anyone interested in practical mechanical assembly design 🔧 What You’ll Learn ✔ Creation of 8 individual parts + 1 Main Assembly ✔ Application of Assembly Constraints: • Mate / Flush • Insert Mate • Axis Mate • Angle Mate • Tangent Constraint ✔ Using the Free Rotate command for motion testing ✔ Understanding the Bottom-Up Assembly Design Approach ✔ How part modifications automatically update inside the assembly 🧩 Parts Included in This Assembly • Motor Base • Motor Top Cover • Shaft & Pulley • Ball Bearing (68 Series) • Rotor & Stator Housing Components • Supporting Mechanical Parts 🛠 Topics Covered in This Video ✔ Creating 2D sketches on XY, YZ, and XZ planes ✔ 3D Sketching, 3D Lines & Splines ✔ Solid Modelling using: • Extrude & Extrude Cut • Revolve & Revolve Cut • Hole Tool • Fillet • Circular Pattern Tool • Mirror Features • Chamfer ✔ Placing components using Place Component ✔ Applying precise assembly constraints 📥 Download the Completed Model 👉 https://bit.ly/4kZ8eGJ 🎯 Purpose of This Video This tutorial is uploaded to showcase practical CAD skills and knowledge, helping learners understand real-world mechanical assembly design in Autodesk Inventor. 👍 Support the Channel If you found this tutorial helpful, please Like, Share, and Subscribe for more CAD, mechanical design, and assembly modelling tutorials.
