I had no opinion about horse racing UNTIL I saw the racehorses getting dumped at Echuca auctions with no hope of getting a home. There were at least 30 TBs and STBS at every auction. Doggers swarmed, buying up all the horses from the racetrack. Of course, advocates of racing will say that the horses were not straight off the track - that's not true, there were horses that had raced a week before. Of course there were some that were chucked away to the nearest opportunist that took them to send to Echuca. There were also trainers that were notorious for dumping their discards there. It was heart breaking to see this happening every sale. Pleas to Racing Victoria were continually met with the response 'not within our jurisdiction' Warning - there are short slaughter scenes in this video. True Brave ended his life this way along with 1000s of others in a deluge of abuse and terror. It is a vile betrayal of horses that were taught to trust humans. Slaughter has been the vile secret of racing for decades. Please make people aware. It is still happening, just not at Meramist. Meramist QLD is no longer killing horses which is where many went to become meat for human consumption. Horses are still being slaughtered at knackeries for dog meat.
