What has led the Aztecs to emerge as one of the top teams in college basketball? They went from a record of 21 and 13 in 2019 to a record of 30 and 2 before the season was cut short. By late January, they were the only undefeated team remaining. Their success propelled them to rank as high as number 4 in the nation. They would have entered the tournament as a possible 1 or two seed. But unfortunately, we will never know how far they would have gone. San Diego State hasn’t always been a strong basketball school. So today we will look into their rise to become one of the top teams in the college basketball world. There are several factors that directly contributed to their rise and we will go into detail into each of them.
