[Anchor Lead] The arrest warrant for former President Park Geun-hye expires at midnight on Monday. She’s currently on trial for corruption, and the court will decide by this week whether to issue an additional arrest warrant and keep the former president in custody as the trial continues. [Pkg] The courts will decide this week whether to extend the detention of former President Park Geun-hye. In a hearing Tuesday, the Seoul Central District Court gave the remark after listening the prosecution's and Park Geun-hye camp's opinions. As for the prosecution, they took issue with Park's insufficient court attendance. They stressed that she did not appear three times during her own trial as well as the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial. The prosecution argued that if she's not in detention while being tried, it will be difficult to carry out normal court procedures. Meanwhile the former president's camp raised concerns with the charges the prosecution has applied for to obtain the additional arrest warrant. Park's camp said that bribery charges related to the Lotte and SK groups were already included in the first warrant request in March and the court had already concluded its deliberations on those allegations. Park's camp also claimed that extending the detention period is a violation of the suspect's human rights. When asked by the court if Park had anything to say, she just shook her head with no words. Her arrest expires at midnight Monday. Park was referred to trial on April 17. If an additional warrant is issued, her detention will be extended for another six months. If it's not issued, Park will be released as of Tuesday and will undergo trial without detention.
