A few years ago, I was tired, exhausted all the time, living in a new country, and worried about my husband leaving me and our three children. He was told he'd be deployable after his current tour, on top of doubling his deployment time over the next 10 years. We both didn't want that, we wanted a different childhood for our children. We felt out of control in our lives, we needed a lifestyle change. We both decided to go back to college because it felt like something we could do to better our future. One of the classes I took was about religion and philosophy. This class really opened my eyes and came into my life at a time I needed it. On the first day of class, I lost my smell and taste. This was at the height of covid, but it was not because of covid. Doctors were just as confused as I was. This caused a lot of anxiety for me. My husband's career went on a downward roller-coaster, a lot of things that were out of his control happened that left him questioning if he should stay in. We were both in therapy. Through therapy and my new class, I learned the importance of breath work, meditation, and being in the moment. I read the Power of Now, and we watched the Secret for the first time. We realized we have been manifesting without realizing it. Since we were teenagers, we would go camping (sometimes getting a RV spot when we only had a tent, and going to RV shows, sitting in them and feeling what it would be like to own an RV) and talk about how one day we would RV around the states. We've done that! We traveled coast to coast with our kiddos in our Rpod travel trailer. Now we were living in another country and even manifested private school for our kids. So, we decided to write what our wildest dream life would be. My husband decided to leave his job without a job lined up. We both were about to graduate, and we knew we had unlimited possibilities. Living in a different country, with the borders closed, it was hard to buy a house in the states and get things lined up. We had to come back to the states, but we didn't have anywhere to come back to. We decided to take some time to travel and figure out where we wanted to settle down. We sold almost everything and lived in our camper van. We had a blast! Traveled the states while worldschooling our children, visited national parks, Disney World, and I even got to meet my sister for the first time. Then one day we found a cabin, our dream cabin, in our budget. We were 1 in 5 offers and we got it! Almost everything on our list came true! We even tripled our income. We made a list that said "I'm thankful we own a cabin the woods" "I'm thankful for my job that is fulfilling and allows us to live the lifestyle we want" "I'm thankful I can come home to my family every day" "I'm thankful I can be present for my children " etc. We hung it up and looked at it every day when we woke up and before bed. We're both really grateful how the last few years have magically unfolded. We're grateful we took this big risk, and it turned out better than we could have ever planned it. Thank you for coming on this journey with us! #vanbuild #vanlife
