I finally got this beast Taito Type Zero board wired up, what a nightmare, a week of research and work. I'm not sure this is rare but it's definitely not common now and probably extremely difficult to find any Taito Type Zero in working condition.... I have a few of these and only two are working. This is just a quick test using some 5K pots.... one for steering and one on full for gas... that's why the driving is bad hehe! I'm not really sure I like the game as a lot of the tracks are too dark to see anything and of course this is a VERY difficult game even set on easy. I suspect it's dark because this hardware is not up to the task so they made everything dark so they didn't have to render as much detail. It's a common trick when the hardware is underpowered. At the date of upload this is one of just a few proper arcade Taito Type Zero Battle Gear 2 vids on the net (the others have Japanese titles). Anyway, I doubt this will ever be working in MAME so watching this reference video is about as good as it gets to the real arcade experience ;-) 00:00 Attract 09:34 Game Play All comments are held for review but proper comments will be allowed.
