One of the first questions patients have when considering full-arch, or All-on-X, implants is: "How much is it going to hurt?". But really, in the right hands, it's not that much. Here's what you can expect: During surgery, you'll actually be sedated. At Elan Implant Center, we work with a certified nurse anesthetist. With IV sedation, not only will you not feel anything during surgery, you likely won't even remember it. Most patients describe the experience as waking up from a wonderful nap. After surgery, you will receive pain medication and possibly steroids to provide deep and effective pain relief throughout the recovery process. Because the entire surgery is planned digitally beforehand, we're not very aggressive during our surgeries, which also helps to minimize pain and soreness afterward. Our patients report that they don't actually feel much pain, with most reporting a pain level of only two or three out of 10, usually completely going away within a week or so.
