Ancora Psychiatric Hospital took top honors and AtlantiCare Behavioral Health and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)-University Behavioral HealthCare (UBHC) shared the second place award in the first statewide competition for improving mental health services. The competition - the first of its kind in the country - culminated on June 2 with an awards ceremony at the Behavioral Health Care Quality Improvement Fair, hosted by UMDNJ at The Imperia in Somerset. Ancora Psychiatric Hospital received the top prize - the Governor Richard Codey Behavioral Health Care Quality Improvement Trophy - for its project "Tools to Replace Two- and Four-Point Restraints." New Jersey Sen. Richard J. Codey presented the trophy, named in his honor because of the significant contributions he has made to mental health services in New Jersey. The trophy will be passed to each year's winner of the statewide competition. The Division of Schizophrenia Research at UMDNJ-UBHC (Piscataway) and AtlantiCare Behavioral Health (Egg Harbor) tied for second place.
