"new game+" means starting from an already-existing save file, rather than a fresh one. this means that the intro goddess cutscene won't play, and you can prepare basically anything you want in advance that you would need to complete any of the nine endings. that includes any necessary money, items, tools, animals, etc. "glitched" means you are allowed to use glitches, of course, and the only relevant one for speedrunning is "chicken off the farm", which lets us get the chicken into town (something the game normally won't allow). the chicken can be used to spam any villager to max affection in a single day, so by calculating exactly how many repetitions each villager needs in each ending, and starting the run with a pre-obtained chicken and eggs, we can really maximize the timesave for each ending. another timesave for NG+ over a fresh file is that we can set up the dog and horse in advance and have them at max affection to start the run. this lets us get the treasure hunt 1 and horse race endings out of the way, after which we can safely let both the dog and horse die. however, i also use the horse to save time on movement in the cake contest and goddess dress endings. since the routing is pretty involved and i needed to complete a run before our upcoming marathon, i discovered some routing errors mid-run and made some mistakes because of it. in particular, i failed to kill the dog at the end of treasure hunt 1 as planned and had to improvise in horse race by intentionally overspamming bob 15 extra times to make up for the affection he would lose from the dog death cutscene, and because his affection was high, i also got the longer version of that cutscene where gwen asks you a question. i also didn't spam gina enough times during cake contest (54 instead of 56) because i had included affection from a cutscene that hadn't triggered yet (from a previous iteration of the route). so i failed to trigger the cutscene at the villa, and actually took a minute to reference the official guidebook before i realized my mistake. more luck than sense, i noticed that she was walking up to the villa at that moment, so i gifted her one of my spare eggs to make up the missing affection, and still managed to make it to the cafe by 5pm before it closed, so i kept going despite losing ~2.5 min. the route implemented the first use of "mad dog" strats, which i discovered during routing. basically if you fail to feed the dog or hit him with a tool, he'll become mad. while mad, there's a chance he won't get sick even if you don't feed him, so you're able to sleep all the way to the summer rainy season during treasure hunt 1, and he'll still have enough affection to open the sacred land. sadly, it doesn't always work and i'm not sure why. regardless, by doing treasure hunt 1 first, we can reset for it if we want and it's not too painful. i got it first try on this run. regarding fishy story, we have to sleep until winter because the chicken spam is only truly "infinite" for kurt on his birthday, and his birthday is winter 10. speaking of which, i don't know if i'll ever play a better fishy story in my life lol. the luck was insane. that's one reason that, despite the mistakes, i probably won't try to beat this for now, because my luck was overall extremely good. i had to reload my file only a couple times for bad weather luck, and once due to a slow chicken escape. sub-4 is currently not possible, but it has potential if we ever find a way to get into the sacred land without having to actually unlock it. the chicken spam makes treasure hunt affection fairly trivial, but it's still almost 15 minutes of spamming 9-10 villagers, and you have to do it twice, once for each treasure hunt ending. we can clip past the wall where the sacred land "door" is, but we currently have no way to access the load without unlocking it as intended. 1:15 Treasure Hunt I 41:15 Horse Race 59:05 Cake Contest 1:23:09 Goddess Dress 1:49:22 Endangered Weasel 2:15:44 Treasure Hunt II 2:56:43 Fishy Story 3:33:57 Azure Swallowtail 3:57:37 Bluebird
