Worship Sermon: 11th January 2026 BY: Clifford Chinwubah Title: The Danger of forgetting God Text: Deuteronomy 8:11 Other bible texts: Matthew 22:37 2 cor 3:5, 1 Sam 8:1-9 1 Sam 15:22-23 Judges 2:16-23 The Sermon reminded us that God is a jealous God and will not share his glory with anyone or any other god. Moses in the book of Deuteronomy 8:1-20 warned the people of Israelites in advance of the potential threat and looming risks associated with forgetting God when they possess the promised land and become prosperous. And when the Israelites did so, he allowed them to be taken into captivity and were ruled for 2.669 years. In the same way, when Christians become so comfortable in life, they should guard against the increased possibilities of replacing dependence on God with self reliance, they should guard against disobedience and pride, as that could take them away from the main focus, which is Christ, thereby bringing condemnation upon themselves.
