Rahibai Popere has contributed immensely by preserving the genetic diversity through conservation of seeds. Rahibai has a deep understanding of crop diversity and with this knowledge, she began her work with aid of BAIF Development Research Foundation with a nursery of blackberry. She then established a seed bank of multiple varieties hyacinth beans, rice, vegetables, beans landraces and shared them with hundreds of farmers in Akole block of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra.
