The Chaer Old Street lies quietly in Shuangliu District, Chengdu, close to the Minjiang River. It was once an important ferry crossing in and out of Chengdu. Because the riverbed is narrow and the water is turbulent, boats often encounter the danger of hitting each other's ears when they come here, so it is named "Chaer Ferry". Today, the prosperity has faded, far less than the hustle and bustle of Chaer Bridge, and there are few people in the streets. The former residence of Xu Maosen stands alone on the corner of the street, and the blue bricks and black tiles are mottled with years. On Minsheng Street, a row of old houses stand quietly, with wooden doors ajar. The old man at the door curled up in a rattan chair, squinting at the moving shadows of the sun, and waving a cattail leaf fan slowly, gently blowing the past bustle into the wind.
