FREY SYNDROME IS OTHERWISE KNOWN AS ? A-BAILLARGER’S SYNDROME B-GUSTATORY SWEATING C-RESTAURANT SYNDROME D-AURICULOR TEMPORAL SYNDROME E-ALL OF THE ABOVE ANSWERING WITH DETAILS EXPLAINING IN MALE VOICE FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS Frey Syndrome, also known by different names like gustatory sweating, auriculotemporal syndrome, restaurant syndrome, and sometimes referenced with Baillarger’s syndrome, occurs when there’s damage to the auriculotemporal nerve, leading to sweating and flushing when eating or thinking about food. Frey Syndrome, also known as gustatory sweating or auriculotemporal syndrome, is a rare condition that occurs after damage to the auriculotemporal nerve, often due to surgery on or near the parotid gland. This damage leads to a misconnection of nerve fibers responsible for sweating and salivation. As a result, patients experience sweating, flushing, and sometimes warmth in the cheek or temple area when eating or even thinking about food. This is why it’s sometimes called ‘Restaurant Syndrome.’ The phenomenon was first described by Dr. Lucja Frey in 1923, and it’s also occasionally referred to as Baillarger’s Syndrome. Symptoms typically appear after surgeries like parotidectomy or facial trauma, but the condition can be managed with treatments such as antiperspirants, botulinum toxin injections, or surgery. Understanding Frey Syndrome is crucial in recognizing and addressing post-surgical complications, especially in head and neck surgeries.”
