The 2026 March Madness is officially here! This is an exciting time for all sports fans as we all rush to fill out as many brackets as possible with the greatest number of upsets and different outcomes. In this video, Alexander will walk you through an in-depth bracket breakdown going matchup by matchup discussing his picks and highlighting matchups that you can look for upsets in: 1 Duke Blue Devils vs 8 Ohio State (If occurs) -With Patrick Ngongba's status being up in the air along with Caleb Foster being out for the season, the Blue Devils are forced to make adjustments late in the season and play a lineup that has not had much experience together. The Blue Devils are coming off a great ACC Tournament Title topping Virginia in the finals; however this is March Madness, and any mistake could cost you any chance you had. -Ohio State has been playing some of the best basketball in the last 3 weeks. Beating top ranked team in Purdue, Penn State, and Indiana to close out the regular season. Paired with a win over Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament along with losing to #1 seed Michigan by 4 points in the Quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament. -Bruce Thorton, John Mobley Jr, and Devin Royal are all experienced players. We have seen that experience along with good guard play matters in March and this Ohio State team has exactly that. 10 Santa Clara vs 7 Kentucky -This is one of the upset matchups Alexander really likes in the bracket. Santa Clara has the offensive firepower and veteran leadership to give Kentucky serious problems if this game becomes a fast-paced scoring battle. -The Broncos are led by guard Christian Hammond, who has been the engine of their offense all season. Alongside him, players like Elijah Mahi and Allen Graves give Santa Clara multiple perimeter scoring options that can stretch the floor and knock down shots in big moments. -In the frontcourt, Bukky Oboye and Allen Graves provide physicality, rebounding, and interior scoring that can challenge Kentucky inside. If Santa Clara is able to control the tempo and get consistent scoring from Hammond and Darlan, they have the pieces to pull off a major first round upset. -Kentucky still has elite talent and athleticism across their roster with players like Otega Oweh, Denzel Aberdeen, Colin Chandler, and Mouhamed Dioubate can take over games offensively. But if Santa Clara can slow the Wildcats down, this could turn into a poor result for UK. 9 Iowa vs 8 Clemson -Another matchup as a very realistic upset opportunity is Iowa over Clemson. This game has the potential to be one of the most competitive matchups in the entire first round. -Iowa brings a strong offensive attack led by players like Bennett Stirtz, Tavion Banks, and Alvaro Folguerias. Stirtz has the ability to stretch the floor and score at all three levels, while Banks and Folguerias provide additional scoring and playmaking in the backcourt. -Inside, Iowa will rely on Cam Manyawu along with Folguerias to control the paint, rebound, and provide interior scoring. If Iowa is able to push the pace and get their shooters going early, they could put Clemson in a difficult position. -Clemson counters with experience and physical play from players like RJ Godfrey, Carter Welling, and Jestin Porter all who have all played in big games before. However, if Iowa is able to dictate the tempo and turn this into an offensive game, Iowa could easily advance. 12 Akron vs 5 Texas Tech -Every year the tournament gives us a classic 12 vs 5 upset, and Alexander believes Akron could be that team this year. -The Zips are led by veteran guard Tavari Johnson, who has been the leader of their offense and one of the most important players on the roster. His ability to score, create offense, and control the pace of the game makes Akron extremely dangerous in a one-game scenario. -Zips also gets key contributions from players like, Amani Lyles, Shammah Scott, and Evan Mahaffey giving them scoring depth and strong defensive energy. Their disciplined system and ability to move the ball well offensively makes them difficult for opponents to guard. -Texas Tech will rely on players like Christian Anderson, Donovan Atwell, and Lejuan Watts due to the absence of J.T Toppin, to lead their offense and control the tempo. TTU is known for their physical defense, but if Akron can handle the pressure and knock down outside shots, they could absolutely pull off the upset. National Championship Prediction -Alexander believes the tournament will ultimately come down to Michigan vs Duke in the National Championship. -Michigan has the depth, defense, and star power to make a deep run through the tournament with players like Yaxel Lendeborg, Aday Mara, and Elliot Cadeau leading the way. -Duke’s combination of talent, size, and shot creation from players like Cam Boozer, Isaiah Evans, and Patrick Ngongba II gives them the ability to compete with anyone in the country even with the loss of Caleb Foster.
