Welcome to my boat building channel! This is my trawler restoration of an Albin 27 pocket trawler. Every couple of weeks I post a boat building or boat repair video to document various boat projects, sailboat restorations, or boat repairs. This episode I discuss how I built a hard top for my boat using Coosa Board and fiberglass. Coosa Board is a great material for boat building. The Albin 27 Family Cruiser came from the factory with no cover over the cockpit of the boat. I wanted to build a hard top that was rigid, easy to construct, cost effective, and looked like it came from the factory. This is a big boat project but could add some real value to a 40 year old trawler if I got it right. The Albin 27 was manufactured in the New England area of the United States from approximately 1983 to 1992. There were reportedly 500-600 of these boats manufactured. The Albin 27 is trailerable and weighed approximately 6,500 pounds from the factory. It is a true pocket trawler with a forward and aft cabin, galley, head, and pilothouse helm.
