Portals Vells is situated at 23 kilometers from Palma de Mallorca and has three beautiful beaches: Portals Vells I, Portals Vells II -El Mago( nude beach) and Portals Vells III( Playa del Rey). The beach of Portals Vells, is known for its interesting cave, "La Cova de La Mare de Deu" with dimensions of 80m long by 60m wide, is unique on the island. The cave that has three portals, was an ancient quarry of seas, whose stone blocks, extracted in the 14th and 15th centuries, were used to build the cathedral of Palma and the church of Santa Eulàlia. En la cueva también hay esculpidos unos altares asociados a una antigua leyenda de pescadores.
