CCINDLE Anti Gender Movements Part 1

Announcing the SGP-CCINDLE Project Gender Café Series! On 21 February 2024 at 9 AM ET/2 PM GMT/7:30 PM IST/9 PM ICT, the Society of Gender Professionals (SGP) and Co-Creating Inclusive Intersectional Democratic Spaces Across Europe (CCINDLE) will host a gender café on the topic, 'Understanding and Countering hashtagAnti-GenderMovements,' the first of a series of joint SGP-CCINDLE Gender Cafés to better understand what, how and why anti-gender movements are gaining political, social and economic legitimacy and what a coordinated response looks like. The goals of this gender café are: To unpack the most recent trends in the anti-gender movement in 4 specific country contexts To learn about the experiences of feminist networks or organizations in different country contexts with anti-gender movements and how they are responding to them in order to facilitate mutual sharing of strategies To discuss the links between democratic backsliding and the anti-gender movement This participative discussion will feature case studies from hashtagBangladesh, hashtagLebanon, hashtagPoland, and hashtagSweden. We will hold space for collective brainstorming and strategizing. Details of the panelists to follow soon. Join us! CCINDLE Project works directly with feminist grassroots activists, institutional actors, and gender professionals, co-creating theoretical and practical knowledge on anti-gender campaigns and how they challenge democracy, futures envisioned in feminist theories and practices related to democracy in Europe with respect to intersectional justice, inclusion, and participation; and feminist movements and feminist institutional responses to hashtagAntiGender and other anti-democratic forces. Previously, in November 2023, the SGP organized a Gender Café to discuss the rising influence of AntiGender movements in Turkey, Paraguay, Bulgaria, and Kenya.
