Thsi is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Kia EV5 compact electric SUV. We are in Toronto for the First Look of Kia’s EV5. It’s an all-new electric 5-passenger compact SUV. Kia says this is going to be a more affordable option for consumers, however we don’t know what the price will be at this time. Here’s our first look of the Kia EV5. There are two Kia EV5 battery size options, a standard 60.3 kWh battery and a long range 81.4 kWh battery. The EV5 will be available in both FWD and AWD options and will be equipped with the North American Charging Standard port. The Kia EV5 looks very similar to the EV9, Kia’s three row electric SUV but it’s smaller. It has Kia’s signature EV tiger face grille, 3-dimensional star map lighting pattern and a more sculpted silhouette. It come standard with 18” wheels, available 19” and 20” wheels. The Kia EV5 rear has combination taillights and a spoiler that elongates the vehicle but also makes it more aerodynamic. The EV5 will be available in 8 different exterior colour options, two that are completely new to Kia, Magna Red and Frost Blue. The Kia EV5 interior is beautiful, I’m very curious about the price point because it does feel upscale. There’s no piano black in here which is always welcome. Kia is moving away from that shiny hard plastic that many manufacturers are still using. There’s soft touch surfaces and it has a more minimalistic design, it’s very clean. In line with other Kia EVs, the brand is using environmentally mindful materials, 10 different materials in total. There’s a 30” panoramic display with standard wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The interior feels spacious and comfortable with plenty of shoulder and legroom in the front. With the column shifter, the centre console is very clean giving you some extra storage and the door pockets are a good size too. There’s an available mood lamp which can be adjusted for improved ambience in this EV. Kia EV5 cargo space is good, we don’t have exact measurements but it’s spacious and the second-row seats fold completely flat. There is a front trunk for those extra items that you want to tuck away, you can also store your adapter or charging cables there. The Kia EV5 will only be available for the Canadian market, it’s not coming to the US at this time and it’s expected to arrive in 2026. Who knows what the future holds for the US market, we’ll have to wait and see. The EV5 will make its debut at the Toronto Auto Show in February.
