Storm Ciara hit the UK on 9 February 2020, The winter storm resulted in Amber warnings across most of the UK for gale-force winds and heavy rain. The full version of my Storm Ciara video    • STORM CIARA | Heavy Rain Landings Wet Runw...   included a Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737-800 departing London Stansted Airport during the storm. A number of people commented that it looked like the aircraft scraped the tarmac as it rotated off Runway 22. I have never filmed anything remotely like this before, and therefore I've re-uploaded the original section of the video plus 2 slowed down and digitally zoomed in versions. Was this a "Tail Strike" or was it just an optical illusion, where the aircraft clearly looks close to the runway, but the wet runway spray makes it look like a strike. There was a reported tail strike of a Boeing 787 of Qantas at London Heathrow the same day. It is also worth noting for anyone worried about incidents such as these that aircraft are built and purposefully tested for such incidents during the design phase. Over to you ...
