The Souls of Polowijen Cultural Village (Jiwa-jiwa Kampung Budaya Polowijen) Amidst the hustle and bustle of modernity, a hidden gem in the form of a cultural village rich in culture and tradition is located in Polowijen Village, Malang City, East Java, Indonesia. Polowijen Cultural Village presents the sensation of the richness of intangible heritage that connects traditions in the past and present that are often forgotten by many people. There is a visionary figure who initiated Polowijen Cultural Village, Ki Demang who became a magnet for learners of traditions and culture typical of Malang. It is not surprising that Polowijen Cultural Village then became a place to learn dancing, making batik and Malang mask, learning to become a puppeteer starting from children and teenagers around Polowijen Village. One of them is the Malang Mask dance which is one of the characteristics of Polowijen Cultural Village. Ki Demang is a portrait of dedication, perseverance, and love for culture and tradition, thus becoming a figure who preserves the Malang Mask dance. About This Project This video is part of a research project by Hiqma Nur Agustina and team from Politeknik Negeri Malang, titled: “Development of a Bilingual Narrative Video of Polowijen Cultural Village for Destination Brand Storytelling” funded by Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. The development of bilingual narrative videos for promotional purposes using storytelling aims to increase the number of local and international tourists visiting the thematic villages steeped in art and culture.
