After a cozy overnight stay in León, and a delicious dinner of authentic local Spanish food, we continue towards Madrid — stopping along the way at a tractor dealer in Medina del Rioseco and catching a lively University of Valladolid parade through the streets. A relaxed lunch stop in El Escorial, just outside Madrid, leads us south to the historic gem of Trujillo, where we find the cheapest Airbnb in Spain — incredible value and a great tapas night out! The next morning, we explore Medellín, birthplace of Hernán Cortés, where Roman ruins, a hilltop castle, and sweeping countryside views await.
