🔔Subscribe to Beginnings And Paths ➡️ https://tinyurl.com/Beginnings-And-Paths ~~~~~~~~ In today's video we'll take a walk from the Albertina, on the back of the Vienna's Opera, to the Stephansplatz and the main cathedral of the city – Stephansdom • Find the Mighty Stephansdom Cathedral | Vi... . Starting from Helmut Zilk place, along Tegetthoff street, the famous Neuer Markt and the Seilergasse, we'll stroll along many beautiful houses as you can find in many places in the old center of Vienna. The most notable part of our short route is the Neuer Markt (New Market). Although it contains 'new' in the name, the Neuer Markt is one of Vienna's oldest squares, situated to the west of Karntner Street. During the Second World War, this historic square suffered severe damage, leading to the loss of many buildings, which were subsequently replaced by more contemporary structures. Records indicate that the square's existence can be traced back to as early as 1234 when it was mentioned in documents as "nuiwe market" or "novum forum." As a testament to its long-standing significance, the square had already gained considerable population density by 1276 when an unfortunate incident, a town fire, is said to have destroyed around 150 houses in the area. The Neuer Markt houses several notable landmarks. Among them is the renowned Capuchin Church (Kapuzinerkirche), the Ambassador Hotel, the house constructed for the Gebrüder Wild, a former traditional delicacy shop exhibiting the style of the German Renaissance, characterized by a facade from the "Old German period" and the Mayseder house, one of the square's oldest structures. A significant feature of the Neuer Markt is the Donnerbrunnen, affectionately referred to as the Providentia fountain. This remarkable fountain was designed by Georg Raphael Donner and built between 1737 and 1739. If you have the opportunity, don't miss to visit those places. ~~~~~~~~ Enjoy the walk.
