Let's Play Pokemon Violet (Blind) Part 38 - Defeating Team Star Squad Leader Mela

Continuing on from the previous part, I enter the fire type team star base. The same gameplay as the previous base happens here where we just kind of let three of our own pokemon out of their pokeballs to battle some pokemon inside the base. Aside from Flittle not doing so great in these battles, Drednaw and Tauros defeat the pokemon with ease. After defeating enough pokemon, the leader comes out on top of another starmobile. (Kind of underwhelming that they all use one!) The leader, Mela, has a fiery punk attitude to her, which I guess is fitting since she is the leader of the fire type squad! But that doesn't do much for her as just like the previous team star leader, she only uses two pokemon, with the second one kind of merging together with the starmobile. So aside from her having a Torkoal, and her starmobile using fire attacks, this battle is pretty much the same as the previous one. She did put up a fair bit of a fight, though, as she knocked out my Tauros! (Drednaw avenged them!) We then get a flashback to a year and a half ago where all the leaders of team star got together. Turns out the the starmobiles they all use are powered by some evolved Charcadet that she trained. We also learn that she was bullied at the academy, which one other member of team star thinks is due to them being jealous of her looks. They also seem to have had some kind of big plan involving some bullies at the academy. We don't get any further information on what that plan is. Mela compliments my Tauros (That just sounds weird!), and gives us her team star badge and the TM for flame charge. She also gives us a very painful looking handshake! Clive also shows up to talk to Mela. He shows her the Charcadet that followed us here from the academy. She remembers it and reveals that she used to play with it back when she went to the academy. Clive says that they clearly want her to go back to the academy. But Mela seems to have no plans on doing that anytime soon. Clive also brings up that there are rumours of team star planning to do something against the academy, which seems to be the first Mela has ever heard of that. In response to another question from Clive, she reveals that they built the starmobile ages ago to help them in a big fight. But it turns out that they never used it against anyone until we showed up. She also seems to have fond memories of an operation called operation star. (They don't say anything else about it!) After that scene abruptly ends there, we get a call from Cassiopeia. Along with having a bit of a melancholic moment when saying Mela's name, they reward us with some money and some other items that get delivered by Penny after the call. Upon her arrival, Miraidon comes out of their pokeball to lick them, much to their dismay! Along with getting items, Penny asks us how tough team star are, and reveals a little bit about what she knows about team star from hacking students' social media accounts. (She was pretty casual about that!) It turns out that most members of the team were victims of bullying, which checks out with the flashback scene we got earlier. She also says that there was some kind of mastermind that got the whole team together, but that's about it. So moving on from all that, I make a sandwich, check out the base (Aside from items, it seems to be identical to the previous one!), and then fly over to Cascarrafa. So with the plan being to take on the water type gym leader next, how will that play out? Find out in the next part!
