Was formed in January of 2001 and has been building a reputation of being an uncompromised metal-core band ever since. Wherever Kaligo goes they leave the crowd victimized. Notorious for being one of the most intense live acts around, they have managed to spread their fan base all over Ohio and New York in a span of just two years. Their debut album will be released in the summer of 2003 followed by a tour up and down the eastern coast. A five song EP has also been scheduled to release around spring time to give the fans a sneak peek at what's to come. Kaligo's foundation was set when vocalists Tyler Crocker and Josh Finfrock came into contact with drummer Dylan Roth and Guitarist Josh Moore. The four quickly put together a brutal set and began searching for a bassist. This search continued until Kurt Blankenship tried out. His funk influence only added more depth to their distinct sound. Another key element was added when Drew Simone came aboard as the second guitarist. His melodic choruses combined with Josh's speed picking and Dylan's undeniable drum beats were exactly what the band was looking for. Sean O'Connor, better known as Sham, has also added a very unique aspect. As well as doing some of the bands' samples, he paints on stage while the band performs. His violent brush strokes make the live show more energetic and really sets Kaligo aside from cliché metal acts. The music, lyrical content, and energy released on stage are truly different and impossible not to watch. Kaligo has gained the recognition and respect from many of their peers and fellow musicians. As they grow, more and more bands are continually influenced by them . Between the seven of them there are two production companies, a studio, and they also design web sites for many of their allies. They are an aggressive band on stage but go out of their way to lend a hand. They have played numerous benefits to raise money for AIDS, suicide prevention, muscular dystrophy, cancer, and even for a family whose house burned down. They have been recognized for there efforts in the Daily Kent Stater, the Beacon Journal, Scene Magazine, the Record Courier, and have been featured as the band of the month by Tek9 productions as well as numerous other band sites. Kaligo will continue to grow so watch for them and their music in 2003.
