Horrific Firecracker Factory Blast in Kakinada | 18 Dead at Surya Sri Fireworks, Samalkot | DAKSHIN BHARAT A massive tragedy struck Kakinada district this afternoon (Saturday, February 28, 2026) as a powerful explosion ripped through the Surya Sri Fireworks manufacturing unit in Vetlapalem, Samalkot Mandal. At least 18 workers, mostly women, were charred to death instantly, with the death toll feared to rise as several others remain in critical condition. The intensity of the blast was so high that it was heard 5 km away, causing damage to nearby buildings. Chief Minister N.
