Full game longplay of Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Final Cut, or Hitchock: the Final Cut, a detective mystery point-and-click adventure game, developed by Slovenian dev Arxel Tribe, released for the PC in Europe in Novemeber 2001, and NA in March 2002. Game's graphics are 3D elements and characters on pre-rendered 2D environments. This was played on my ancient 2003 Fujitsu-Siements laptop, with intel 915g iGPU, recorded in 4K in OBS, but game itself was running at 1024x768 resolution, 4:3, with no antialiasing turned on. (because my laptop didn't support any) More brandy. 🦜 GAME REVIEW: This here is certainly an interesting game, but definitely not a hidden gem, it's by and large forgotten, and very obscure. It's a 2001 detective mystery, where you pick up the clues, catalogue them on your PDA, gather evidence on the possible suspects, or it would seem at least, as the clues are basically, a small spoiler, meaningless, and are just glorified "keys" to progress the scripts and the story, and there is not any kind of real "verdict" to be made, like in Sherlock Holmes' Testament game or Crimes & Punishments, the story is pretty much standard linear, there aren't any other endings or anything like that. Soooo, the detective side of things is more of a nice touch for the "lore" of our main character who's a psychic detective, than anything else. There are some annoying moments, controls are pretty bad, a few timed sequences. Overall, it's pretty hard to know what to do without a walkthrough, there aren't any actual clues on what to do, and the main protagonist very rarely comments on the course of action. Graphics are a-okay for the time, audio nothing out of ordinary, except for heavily copyrighted music, the one that can get you the video restricted in all regions of the world in youtube. :D Overall, it's very good that I got around to recording this game, as it's gonna be the first, and perhaps the only ever longplay of this game, with no commentary, on the whole of youtube, so anyone curious can judge by themselves as to why did this game fall into obscurity and is basically forgotten. It's an average adventure game, with some interesting story being based on several of Hitchcock's real movies, with many allusions and common spots with them. Basically, a fan service mixed with an adventure game. For the fans of Hitchcock, 7.5/10, for the rest and the adventure game fans, 6.5/10 is what I would rate it, it's nothing out of ordinary, playable, but uninspiring. :) Recorded with the VGA-to-HDMI converter + mini-jack audio, which unfortunately is quite bad quality-wise, as can be seen and heard on the recording. There is a shitload of visual noise on the recording, same with the noise in the audio, I've tried as best I could to minimize the audio noise by using some high quality audio denoisers, with some "mediocre" results, as it was a constant high pitched squeak without the denoiser, it's only a bit better than what it was. Video was just filtered somewhat, but no improvements to the overall quality, the noise is there, especially in the brighter moments. Not gonna use this converter for anything other than a simple external monitor solution, first and only recording. :C This game simply did not run at all on my windows 10, or even my older windows 7 laptops, straight up black screen on launch, whatever I did. And the game is so obscure, there isn't any actual forum thread about the game or about the issue itself, you are on your own. The only solution for me, was to use the 2003 windows XP laptop, thankfully the integrated shitty intel GPU didn't cause any issues. Game summary: Robert Marvin-Jones is a billionaire recluse who decides to pay homage to Alfred Hitchcock by making a film in his backyard; however his film crew have gone missing and possibly been brutally murdered.
