L'ho dedicato alla natura a cui mi sono ispirata per realizzarlo. Io e i miei musicisti abbiamo arrangiato le musiche fianco a fianco. È il mio album più concettuale.» [Elisa su "Lotus", 2003] « [...] In questo lavoro Elisa vuole portare alla luce l'anima acustica delle canzoni con nuovi arrangiamenti, in alcuni casi riscrivendo addirittura la melodia. Tutti i brani sono registrati su nastro analogico in presa diretta ed eseguiti da Elisa e dai musicisti in versione acustica come se si trattasse di una performance live. Elisa è compositrice e autrice di tutte le canzoni (ad eccezione della cover di 'Hallelujah' di Leonard Cohen, omaggio a Jeff Buckley, 'Femme Fatale' dei Velvet Underground e 'Almeno tT Nell'Universo' di Bruno Lauzi). Per la prima volta cura personalmente l'intera produzione dell'album, avvalendosi della preziosa collaborazione di Pasquale Minieri. Gli arrangiamenti sono curati da Elisa insieme ai musicisti del gruppo: Andrea Rigonat (chitarra acustica, classica e 12 corde), Max Gelsi (basso acustico), Christian Rigano (pianoforte, piano fender rhodes e organo hammond) e Andrea Fontana (batteria e percussioni). La partitura delle armonizzazioni del coro e delle voci è stata scritta ed eseguita da Elisa.
