A look at how a shirt was made in a factory around 1960. I am not sure where the factory is, but it was making shirts for the SCWS (Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society). This society was based in Glasgow and part of the co-operative movement of the 19th century. Here we see some of the processes in making a shirt from start to finish in a factory of the time. When I left school I took a job at a hat factory...this setting is not so dissimilar! This was digitised frame by frame from the original 16mm film at a resolution of 2048x1152. This was edited from footage produced by the the "Chester Residential School for Management", with a credit to the SCWS Music "Straight" Music: bensound.com License code: WLCURXDUYFCHUALV
