Sorry for the bad thumbnail. Well it's that time of the year for L.A. Sanitation's discover recycling open houses again. I attended South LA's open house this year since I wanted to see that yard again and see how the fleet has changed since I was last there in 2015. I wasn't surprised though. More new trucks and less old ones. I was surprised to see that the yard got one of those 520 McNeilus FLs and a new 520 mini Hardox Amrep. 994 and 012 have been scrapped which was sad to hear as those were some really classic LA trucks! I was pleasantly surprised to see that the yard only has a handful of Autocars since I prefer Peterbilts for these trucks. Looks like 245 is now missing the other "Sanitation" sticker. That truck is already missing several other things as it is lol. I was also surprised to run into a couple of drivers I've filmed in the past who were volunteering at the event. The chaperone of 206 said I filmed him in 245 and I also met the driver I filmed in 895. Was surprised to hear that the chaperone of 206 received that truck when the yard first got it and then they gave it to Charlie. Very chill guy though we talked several times throughout the duration of the event and he mentioned that he's seen my videos and his video of course. Also talked to several other South LA drives I had yet to film such as K. Williams. Apparently, he does my grandparents' street on Tuesday in 206 now. As always I ran into the other LA filmers who volunteer at these events. Met up with Kevin, Sean, Kanyisa, Kanyile, Kirk, and many others. The ASLs out for operation were 196, 206, and 338. The video features me operating all three! It's a shame they don't take out the dual fuel Octos for operation since they like to showcase the newer trucks. I also did a walk around of some trucks I still want to film like 664 and 945. Lucky for me 664's route book was inside the truck, but 945's route book was nowhere to be found. Must have been hidden pretty good. The end of the video features 761 picking up the event's trash/recyclables after the event ended and everything was cleaned up. The guy behind the wheel used to be a driver, but now he is a supervisor! Anyways, I think that's all I have to say, enjoy the video!!! Big thank you goes out to L.A Sanitation, the drivers, and all the other volunteers who make these events possible!!! Thanks for watching!!! I sure had a blast!
