( DRUNKEN FIST ) In 1984, ATV adapted the popular comic book Drunken Fist by Wong Yuk Long into a martial arts drama, which pulled in excellent viewership ratings and prompted the TV station to produce a sequel series in the same year. Produced by Cha Chuen Yee, the series features action choreography by Chan Siu Lung and counts Lee Lik Chi, Stephen Shiu, and Lawrence Cheng among the creative crew. In his first television leading role, handsome kung fu actor Ng Kong plays the hero Wang Wuji opposite a sparkling cast that includes Moon Lee, Yip Yuk Ping, and Lau Kar Leung's nephew Lau Kar Yung. Screen baddie Wong Lung Wai, actress Miu Kam Fung, and character actors Law Lok Lam, Leung Ming, Tso Tat Wah, and Eddy Ko round out the main cast. In the final years of the Qing Dynasty, famous kung fu master "Big Saber" Wang Wu (Eddy Ko) falls to the invincible martial arts of evil cult leader Lian Bixie (Wong Lung Wai), and has all of his family killed except for his young son Wuji. Bearing the vendetta, Wuji (Ng Kong) grows up a disciple of the Drunken Beggar (Tso Tat Wah). With his supreme "Drunken Fist" kung fu, the righteous and brave young man roams the martial world and has numerous dangerous encounters with the most vicious villains. He is also romantically entangled with Xian'er (Moon Lee) , Wuji also has two best friends Drunken Babe (Yip Yuk Ping) and Little Sword Immortal (Lau Kar Yung)... ( DRUNKEN FIST - II ) ATV's 1984 martial arts drama Drunken Fist was such a huge success that the network made the sequel that same year with ace producer Lau Ka Ho (who later made many classic dramas for TVB) and production coordinator Lee Lik Chi (blockbuster director of numerous Stephen Chow movies). Ng Kong, Moon Lee, and Yip Yuk Ping reprise their famous roles in Drunken Fist II, which tells the further adventures of Wang Wuji, Xian'er, and Drunken Babe after the defeat of Lian Bixie and Little Sword Immortal in the previous series. But new threats arise in the form of two rivaling evil sect leaders, the "Sun Emperor" (played by kung fu actor Chang Yi) and the "Moon Empress" (sexy actress Lily Chan)! Other new cast members that join the epic kung fu saga include Yeung Chung Yun, Yeung Tak Si, Au Hoi Ling, and Shaw Brothers actress Lily Li.
