Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. CHANNEL EXCLUSIVE!! Shouts out the House DJ/Producer Chris Jones for this recording. Straight out of North West London, Rapid, Twoza and Peck, formed a small proportion of the Hype Squad, They were originally from a crew called 'The Professionals'. The Hype Squad had tens of members, it formed as a collective unifying all Raw FM's past crews under one umbrella. Raw Mission FM (Raw Mish) was amalgam of Raw FM (which broadcast a couple of years earlier on same frequency) along with some of the Mission FM crew who had left 90.6 when it changed to Y2K FM. Raw Mission expanded when Randy C became part of management leaving Flava FM 87.6. Randy C and Bionic Bossman had improved the coverage of the station and had attracted more talent. Moving it from its native west London to the heart of east end. It was East meets West. However there was no clashing at all, both sides embraced one another and what they were doing. We personally feel this where Flirta D and the others began to get noticed outside of their manor. DJ Rapid had cemented himself as one of Raw Mission's DJ dons along with Diesel D, who had to change his name due to a title/name feud with DJ Diesel of the East Connection Crew. MCs Twozer and Peck were talented, up and coming MCs, they later tailored their styles to match the emerging Grime music style, but after the early 2000s we have little knowledge of what happened to them. Hype Squad is noted as one of the most underrated Garage crews and must be credited as being a big influence on the beginnings Grime scene. Throughout the 2000s Raw Mission was to expand its coverage, gaining more listeners. They had retained many of the old guard from Raw FM 90.0 with Bionic Bossman still at the helm with an entourage which now called themselves the Hype Squad, retaining the likes of DJ Diesel D, DJ Ballsey, DJ Rapid, MC Twoza, MC Peck, MC Swarvo, MC Sloth (Charlie Sloth), MC Flirta D (SLK / Special Delivery / Grime Originals) and many others, they also recruited more performers and artists with DJ Randy C (also as part of management) many others joined the station: Roll Deep Entourage (DJ Karnage, DJ Target, DJ Danny Weed, MC Breeze, MC Jamakabi (Jamaka B), MC Flowdan, MC Wiley, MC Scratchy, MC Killa P, plus more), DJ Maximum (Boy Better Know), Knights Of The Round Table (DJ Smasher, MC Lucky Luciano and MC Skeet), DJ Reaper (The DEA Project), DJ Shax (Allstar Records), MC Breakfast Man, After Shock (DJ Shocks, Terror Danjah, MC Triple Threat (MC Lethal) and MC Bruza (formerly MC Chigga D and more), DJ Influence & MC Skanker and many other well known names on the underground pirate radio circuit. The station was running big events and attracting the recognition it deserved bringing talent from all over London to perform together. Out to all the London FM pirates of the past. Although they aren’t about now their contribution to the British music industry and to the London music scene has been immense.
