Review of a Wen 6.5 ton Lumberjack electric log splitter I purchased from Amazon for $219. Per the specifications, it can handle logs up to 10 inches and diameter and 20-1/2 inches in length and provides 13,000 pounds of log-cracking pressure. The unit comes with a stand which I opted not to use for testing purposes. The price of this splitter on Amazon has fluctuated a lot. It's gone up as much as double and come back down to the $220-$240 range several times since posting this video. IMO, it's a good buy if you can get it for $300 or less. The log splitter performed well, splitting a range of sizes of logs including some that were quite gnarly and stringy and even those with hard-to-split crotches. The operation requires two hands, one to activate the motor and the other to operate the ram control. This is sometimes a hindrance as sometimes you need a third hand to steady a log that doesn't want to stay in place atop the unit. I added a foot switch along with a clamp to keep the run motor button closed to facilitate one hand operation. This worked well especially with some of the larger logs. After about an hour's use the unit stopped working by what looked to be a failure of the extend/return valve. Fortunately, Amazon has a fantastic return policy. I returned the faulty unit and purchased another. The replacement has been performing perfectly since.
